Who AWoice is
AWoice (awoice.com, also written AW Voice) is a phone assistant for German-speaking small businesses, based in Schlieren, canton of Zurich. It has pages for hairdressers, restaurants and physiotherapy practices.
It is a done-for-you service: the first step is a conversation with the team, who build the assistant by hand. Its site states that there is no self-service dashboard.
Voko (Bern) is an AI phone assistant for small businesses across Switzerland. The business sets it up itself, from its website, in a few questions.
Prices and contract
| Price a month | Included minutes | Per included minute | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voko Starter | CHF 99 | 500 | CHF 0.20 |
| Voko Pro | CHF 299 | 1,500 | CHF 0.20 |
| Voko Business | CHF 599 | 3,000 | CHF 0.20 |
| AWoice Standard | CHF 189 | 500 | CHF 0.38 |
| AWoice Plus | CHF 249 | 1,000 | CHF 0.25 |
The Voko plans differ in features as well as minutes. Starter has answering, booking in your calendar, call summaries, opening hours with Swiss holidays, voicemail, all languages and one transfer number. Pro adds appointment reminders, contacts with caller recognition and routing, several transfer destinations with a team directory, and bexio. Business adds the webhook and API, booking in your own system, number porting and priority support. The knowledge an assistant reads in full grows with the plan: 40,000 characters on Starter, 100,000 on Pro, 200,000 on Business. To compare like with like, set AWoice Standard against Voko Starter and AWoice Plus against Voko Pro.
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup fee | None | CHF 490 Standard, CHF 690 Plus |
| Extra minutes | CHF 0.35 per extra minute on Starter, CHF 0.25 on Pro, CHF 0.20 on Business, total rounded up to the franc, approved before billing | CHF 0.30 Standard, CHF 0.25 Plus, billed at month end |
| Minimum term | None on monthly plans | 3 months |
| Notice | End of the paid month | 30 days, to the end of a month |
| Annual option | 15% lower per month | Not stated on its site |
| Free trial | 7 days or 30 minutes, no card, every feature except porting | None; free demo call on request |
| Money back | None | 30 days, by its terms |
| VAT | Prices exclude VAT | Pages do not say; its imprint says it is not VAT-registered |
Worked example (our arithmetic). Three months at the entry plan, 500 minutes a month: AWoice Standard costs 3 × CHF 189 + CHF 490 setup = CHF 1,057. Voko Starter costs 3 × CHF 99 = CHF 297, a difference of CHF 760.
One step up, AWoice Plus costs 3 × CHF 249 + CHF 690 = CHF 1,437 for 1,000 minutes a month. The closest Voko plan, Pro, costs 3 × CHF 299 = CHF 897 for 1,500 minutes a month, and it is the first plan with reminders, contacts, several transfer destinations and bexio.
Two things soften this. AWoice’s 30-day money-back clause refunds setup and monthly fees if you stop within 30 days, and its price buys a setup done for you. Neither list price includes extra minutes above the allowance.
Feature by feature
Each table shows what each provider states on its own website. “Not stated on its site” means the page is silent, not that the feature is missing. In the Voko column, “From Pro” means the Pro and Business plans, and “Business only” means that plan alone. Starter does not have those features.
Languages and Swiss German
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Languages spoken | French, German (Swiss or standard), Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese | German only; other callers get a callback note |
| Switch language mid-call | Six languages, not from Swiss German | Not stated on its site |
| Speaks Swiss German | Yes, as a beta, with one female voice | No: replies in standard German on purpose |
| Understands Swiss German | Not measured, so we make no claim | Says it does; asks again if the dialect is strong |
| Voices | Up to 6 per language, with gender and tone | Not stated on its site |
| Greeting | Your text, or an uploaded recording | Business name; wording written by AWoice |
| Pace and tone settings | Pace, responsiveness, creativity | Not stated on its site |
| Caller can interrupt | Yes, except the greeting by default | Not stated on its site |
| Says it is an AI | When asked; not announced by default | In the first sentence, it says |
| Simultaneous calls | 1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, by agreement on Business | No figure; agreed in the first conversation |
| Longest call | You choose, up to 2 hours | Not stated on its site |
Voko wins on languages. AWoice wins on one narrow point: it states that it understands Swiss German, while Voko speaks it only as a beta and has not measured how well it understands it.
Booking and calendar
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Books into a calendar | Cal.com (free account) on every plan; your own system by API, Business only | Google Calendar, connected for you |
| Other calendars | Outlook, Microsoft 365, Apple, through Cal.com | Its pages differ: "on request" and "Google only" |
| Availability checked live | During the call | During the call, and again before booking |
| Services and staff | One appointment type per assistant | Duration per service, one calendar per person |
| Move or cancel | Only appointments Voko booked, from the same number | By phone; how it finds the booking is not stated |
| Request instead of booking | Takes a message if no calendar or no slot | Callback note for prices, advice, complex cases |
| Reminders | From Pro: by SMS, or a call from the assistant (calls are new) | None, in its own words |
| Confirmation to the caller | Spoken, plus a Cal.com email if an address is given | Spoken; its pages disagree on a confirmation SMS |
| Till, reservation or practice software | Only through your own system and our signed API (Business only) | Not connected, it says |
For a business already on Google Calendar, AWoice is simpler: no middle account. It also handles services of different lengths and one calendar per person better. Voko supports more calendars, plus reminders (from Pro) and a route into your own booking system (Business only).
Transfers, opening hours and voicemail
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Transfer to a person | One number on every plan; from Pro, rules for a number, a team member, another assistant or a name | Not part of the service, in its words; callback instead |
| Opening hours | Per weekday, several windows, Zurich time | Set at setup; per-weekday detail not stated |
| Holidays and closures | All 26 cantons, plus closures with their own message | Answers on holidays; Swiss holiday calendar not stated |
| What a caller hears when closed | Announcement, then voicemail up to 2 minutes, or another assistant | Still answers: hours, a slot or a callback, depending on setup |
| Voicemail | Audio, emailed or kept in the console, no transcript | None; a callback note instead |
| Overflow when busy | Next call goes to a backup number | Not stated on its site |
| Forward all calls | One switch, for an hour or until switched off | Not stated on its site |
| Blocking and caps | Limits per number, auto-block, daily caps | Not stated on its site |
| Outbound calls | Reminder calls only, from Pro | Not stated as a feature |
| Urgent calls | Urgency flagged; rules from Pro can route urgent calls | Not stated; gives no medical information |
Voko has more here, though Starter is limited to one transfer number. AWoice states that a direct transfer to a person is not part of its service. Its assistant answers at any hour, so it has no voicemail: a caller who needs a person leaves a name and number instead. How that callback note reaches you is not stated.
Contacts and caller memory
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Recognises a returning caller | From Pro: saved contacts only, greeted by name | Not stated on its site |
| Memory of earlier calls | From Pro: optional, the last 3 calls of a contact | Not stated on its site |
| Routing per contact | From Pro: straight through, or to another assistant | Not stated on its site |
| Contact import | From Pro: CSV, Excel, bexio | Not stated on its site |
Voko offers these from Pro; Starter has none of them. AWoice says nothing on the subject, so we cannot say it lacks them.
Knowledge the assistant learns from
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Sources | Website, PDF and Word files, free text | A form filled in at setup; files and website not stated |
| Limits | Up to 40,000 characters on Starter, 100,000 on Pro, 200,000 on Business; 20 documents of 10 MB per assistant | Not stated on its site |
| Website re-read | Weekly, monthly or on demand | Not stated on its site |
| Who keeps it up to date | You, in the console | AWoice; changes included in the subscription |
Voko gives you more ways to feed the assistant, though how much it can hold depends on the plan. AWoice does the writing for you, and says its assistant does not guess beyond what is stored.
Summaries, transcripts and recordings
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Summary after each call | Email, optional SMS, routing rules, structured fields | No per-call summary stated; calendar entry and call log |
| Transcript | In the console, speaker by speaker | Kept up to 90 days; your access not stated |
| Audio recording | Off by default; if on, a notice plays first | None created or stored, by design |
| Dashboard and log | Call list, search, CSV and Excel export | No self-service dashboard |
| Analytics | Basic overview: calls, bookings, durations | Monthly overview of bookings, both plans |
Voko gives you a console you read yourself; AWoice gives you a monthly overview and its team’s review in the first 30 days. If storing no audio at all matters to you, AWoice does that by design. Voko does the same by default, but you can switch recording on.
Integrations, API and webhooks
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| CRM | No native connector; only the webhook (Business only) | Not stated on its site |
| Accounting | From Pro: bexio, contacts and call notes | Not stated on its site |
| Webhook | Business only: after the call, signed, sent once | Not stated on its site |
| API and developer docs | Business only: docs for booking and webhook; no REST API | Not stated on its site |
| Zapier, Make, n8n | No native app | Not stated for customers |
| Custom tool calls | Not available | Not stated on its site |
| Website chat or voice widget | Text chatbot in beta; no voice widget | Not stated on its site |
Voko offers more but is thin on CRMs: bexio (from Pro) and a webhook (Business only) are the only routes. AWoice states nothing here, so a business that needs a connection should ask before signing.
Phone numbers
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| New Swiss number | Included, assigned automatically | Not stated on its site |
| Keep your own number | Call forwarding, with codes per carrier | Call forwarding, guided step by step |
| Porting | Business only: on request, manual, about four weeks, landlines | Not stated on its site |
| Numbers per plan | 1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, by agreement on Business | Not stated on its site |
| Choice of area code | Swiss numbers only, prefix not selectable | Not stated on its site |
Both let you keep your number through forwarding, which you set up at your own phone provider. Beyond that AWoice says little.
Team, security and support
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Users | 1 on Starter, unlimited on Pro and Business | No console; no licence fee per employee |
| Roles | Owner, administrator, viewer, billing access | Not stated on its site |
| Two-factor sign-in | Authenticator app; the owner can require it | No customer login described |
| Console language | French, German, English | No console; site in German |
| Support | Email, form, phone; reply within one business day | The team by phone, email, WhatsApp; replies within 24 hours on working days |
| Named contact, priority | No fixed contact person or support hours; priority support (Business only), terms not stated | Fixed contact and priority changes: Plus only |
AWoice wins on support: the team is reachable by phone and WhatsApp, and Plus adds a fixed contact person. Voko replies by email, form and phone and states one business day, but has no fixed contact person and states no support hours; Business lists priority support without stating its terms. Voko has the console: roles, two-factor sign-in, an interface in three languages.
Data and privacy
AWoice’s column is what it says in its privacy policy and on its site, not a check of ours.
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Database in Zurich, application in Frankfurt; voice and telephony at external providers, some in the US | Website and call control on its own server in Frankfurt (EU); voice processing at US providers, it says |
| Providers named | ElevenLabs, Google, Twilio, Supabase, Vercel, Cal.com, Resend, Daily, Jina | Vapi, Soniox, OpenAI, Twilio, Google Workspace, Hostinger, Cloudflare, Resend |
| Audio | Not recorded by default | Says none is created or stored |
| Transcripts and summaries | 1, 7, 30 (default), 90 days or never | Says up to 90 days, or shorter if the business sets it |
| Zero retention | Per assistant: nothing kept | Shorter period possible; zero not stated |
| AI training | States it never trains on your calls | Says AWoice does not; its providers not stated |
| Data processing agreement | On request | On request, not public |
| Swiss law, GDPR | States compliance with the revised FADP; no GDPR statement | Refers to the revised FADP and shows a "DSG-konform" badge; no GDPR statement |
| Certifications | None | None listed on its site |
| Delete, export | Delete a call or the account; JSON export | Callers can ask for deletion; your own tools not stated |
Neither provider runs the voice in Switzerland, and we do not claim Swiss hosting. On audio, AWoice is stricter by design; Voko’s default is the same, with an option to record.
Setup and trial
| Voko | AWoice | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sets it up | You, in a short sign-up flow | AWoice, by video call or on site |
| Time to go live | No go-live time promised; the sign-up flow is described as about two minutes | A binding date, no blanket promise; calendar connection usually under a day, it says |
| What you do | Give your website, choose language and voice, test, set up forwarding | Take the first call, fill in a form, have a Google Calendar, set up forwarding |
| Help included | Guides and a checklist; no setup call | Joint tests, log review for 30 days, later changes |
| Trial | 7 days or 30 minutes, no card, every feature except porting | None; free demo of about 20 minutes |
The trade-off is simple. With AWoice you wait for a date and a person does the work. With Voko you do the setup yourself and can test it on the free trial first.
